Samuel Odeyemi: Nov. 18, 2016
The only solution to the economy crisis ravaging the state
is to vote bad leaders out of government, the Social Democratic Party
(SDP), candidate in the November 26, 2016 Governorship election in Ondo
state, Dr. Olu Agunloye has said.
Dr. Agunloye who made the observation at Emure in Owo local government
during his campaign tour of the local government said, those that plunge
the state into the current mess should be voted out of office through
the ballot.
He told the people to use their constitutional powers by using their
thumb to safe the situation and speaking with one voice through the
ballot and chase out those that had lured them into economy slavery.
The SDP governorship candidate whose mother hails from Emure had a
remarkable moments as he danced to the embrace of his kinsmen moving
from one house to another en route the palace of Elemure of Emure, Oba
Adedubaje Adeyefa.
Aside Owo people, those that received him were the Ibira, Uroboh, Igbo
and Hausa communities who sang various songs of solidarity and encomiums
as a sign of loyalty to the one they loved.
It will be recalled that Dr. Agunloye whose mother hails from the
ancient town of Owo is believed to be the choice of the people going by
the kind solidarity songs and encomiums that were showered on him as the
most awaited governor of Ondo state.
While thanking the people for the warm reception, he how ever noted
that he will not make vague promises like other politicians but assured
that he can only make people oriented promises capable of changing
lives for better.
He expressed concern over the uncompleted double lane that pass through
the major street of Owo, saying, the abandoned project shall be
revisited as soon as he assumed power as the governor of Ondo state by
February 24, 2017.
According to him, the age long dignity that had since evaded the palace
shall be returned by passing a bill that will free the Obas from
Government slavery to the state House of Assembly.
He expressed concern that the least paid Oba in Ekiti state that has no
mineral resources is better off than their counterparts in Ondo state,
even when the meager salaries are not being paid for months.
While responding, Oba Adeyefa commended Dr. Agunloye and the SDP for
maintaining a peaceful conduct of their campaigns, saying it shows the
kind of integrity which Agunloye is noted for over the years.
His words, ''let the integrity flow which you are known continue to
flow freely in the blood of your followers, I can give you our words
that we had concluded within the community that we shall vote for a
candidate that has integrity and we have found that in you''.
Dr. Agunloye promised that salaries and wealth fare packages of Obas and
Civil Servants shall top the agenda of his administration, adding that
salaries and other emoluments shall be paid as at when due.
